| Danny, About your Marshall MF 350 Head. Have you actually simply replaced the pre amp tubes before in your amp? Just recently mine was starting to sound below par so I replaced the ECC83 tubes with off the shelf Marshall ECC83\'s. The tone was instantly brighter and thicker sounding, back to how it was when I first had it. According to the factory they say you should replace them every 2-3 years depending on how much use it gets. You can get hotter tubes such as groove tubes etc. I know that Christian from Fear Factory did that with his when he switched from a JMP1 to the MF350 for the Architype and Transgression albums and tours. IN 2006 he switched to Krank and sold his MF350\'s through their myspace page and on US ebay. He still continued to use the MF350 cabinets with the Krank amps for a while. Personally if I was to switch to all tube amps again I\'d go with either Mesa, Peavey, or the new Marshall JVM410. I\'m not a fan of the Krank stuff. The problem with the clean on the MF350 is when you choose the crunch channel on amp 1 as well. For a nice clean tone you need to back off the gain to no more than 3, EQ to suit your taste. By doin that, because the eq and gain is shared with the crunch channel, the crunch tone sucks. I find the MF350 actually works best when used as a 3 channel amp. Clean on amp 1, crunch through OD1 then the crazy stuff through OD2. I usually select the 3rd tone matrix for the fatter low end. I never use the scoop buttons, although they do give a nice death metal sound. I read what you said about the US market not liking hibryd amps. I find that quite interesting given the success of the modelling amp market over there. In actual fact, hibryd amping is nothing new at all, some the most respected tone gurus such as EVH used it all the time for many years. Eddie used to have his brown sound marshall hooked up to 4 800w solid state power amps to run all those cabinets. Same with many players in the 80s and 90s. The introduction of amps like the tripple recto, the 5150 with their massive headroom changed that trend. Another thing that makes a nonesense of the whole tube purist debate is the fact that no matter what you\'re using, at a professional live level, you\'re going to be mic\'d and amped through a bunch of solid state power amps anyway. Either that or DI\'d which means only your pre amp stage is being used and then amped through the PA. I never get hung up on whats inside an amp, if it sounds awesome at gigging volume then I\'ll use it regardless. I play in a Black Label Society tribute band, and since I\'ve had the MF350 its stood along side some pretty impressive amps and burried them all for live headroom and tone IMO. I\'m talking 5150\'s, Mesa Rectos, Peavey xxx valve kings, Marshall JCM\'s, TSL\'s, all manner of line 6 stuff, H&K, Randall............I\'ve yet to hear an amp next to it that I thought \"I have to have that instead of the MF\".
